Trees In Smog

In June, 2023 a number of large wildfires burned in the boreal forests of northern parts of the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. They produced so much smoke, carried south by the wind, that the air in the midwestern United States became hazy for several days. It looked like light fog, and was so toxic that several states, including Indiana, advised people to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary.

On the evening of June 27, I made four photographs of trees in rural Allen County, a few miles outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. The polluted air gave the landscape a hazy, foggy appearance.
