Waynedale Memorial Day Parade

Waynedale is an area on the southwest edge of the city of Fort wayne, Indiana. Originally an independent small town founded in 1921, it became part of Fort Wayne in 1957. Although Waynedale has now been part of Fort wayne longer than it was a small town, it still has the appearance and culture of a small town.

Waynedale has always had its own parade on Memorial Day, separate from the city's parade. The holiday, celebrated on the last Monday in May, commemorates Americans who died in war. The parade always begins in the parking lot of Waynedale United Methodist Church on the corner of Old Trail Road and Church Street, and goes north on Old Trail Road to the Prairie Grove Cemetery.

In addition to these photographs, I also photographed the 2022 parade on Polaroid film for my Polaroid SX-70 Project.
