In 2010, I discovered a little abandoned motel in a rough industrial area on the east side of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Norton's Motel consisted of two buildings with guest rooms, and an old brick house on a hill next to the parking lot. The motel's office was in a room on the house's lower level. The older looking building behind the house was a single floor structure, and the newer one was a two story cinderblock building across the parking lot from the house. A large concrete platform, covered in floor tiles, between the house and parking lot, looked like it had been the foundation of another building in the past.

Several chairs were scattered around the property, and an old swing set stood in front of the house. I photographed the abandoned motel and house several times in late 2010 and early 2011. In the summer of 2011, the motel was renovated and reopened for business.
