Willshire is a very small town in Van Wert County, Ohio. It is barely inside Ohio, only about a quarter mile east of the Indiana-Ohio State Line on US-33. The 2010 Census counted a total population of just 397 people!
Intending to photograph an abandoned farmhouse on the Indiana side of the state line, I drove down there on the morning of June 1, 2015. The house I was looking for was being renovated, so I drove on past it and found myself in Willshire.
Many of the buildings on State Street (US-33 and State Route 49), which is the little town's "Main Street," were still decorated for the Memorial Day holiday, which was a week earlier. Willshire is an interesting and beautiful town. I spent a couple hours there that morning, and will return soon to photograph some more.
